WHAT IS CHI ?
If you’re looking for another way to reduce stress, consider Chi.  Chi is sometimes described as “meditation in motion” because it promotes serenity through gentle movements — connecting the mind and body. Originally developed in ancient China for self-defense, chi evolved into a graceful form of exercise that’s now used for stress reduction and to help with a variety of other health conditions.

AGE ?
There have been numerous studies on the practice of Chi and the elderly. Generally, the results show that seniors benefit more from this form of exercise than from a traditional exercise class. Most forms of Chi are gentle and suitable for everyone. You can practice Chi regardless of your age or physical ability — Chi emphasizes technique over strength, making it suitible for everyone.

IMPACT ?
As mentioned above, Chi emphasizes technique over strength.  Because Chi is low impact it is an excellent exercise for seniors 55 and older.  To do Chi, you perform a series of postures or movements in a slow, graceful manner. Each posture flows into the next without pause, ensuring that your body is in constant motion.

COST ?
Chi is a wonderful exercise because it is inexpensive.  It requires no special equipment and can be done indoors or out, either alone or in a group.

CHI & THE PHYSICALLY DISABLED ?
Chi is one of the simplest ways for people who use wheelchairs to improve their physical andmental health.  Because Chi is a noncompetitive self-paced form of physical exercise it is perfect for those who have physical limitation or wheelchair dependant.
